With strong roots in Germany and Vietnam, the TL Stiftung (TL Foundation in English) supports long-term, self-funded projects promoting scientific research, education, and the well-being of underserved communities.
We believe that meaningful change begins with knowledge, opportunity, and compassion.
The previously separate TL International Foundation will be fully integrated into the TL Stiftung to strengthen our impact and simplify our operations,
Our Story
Founded in 2000 by Tübingen entrepreneur Bernhard Bruscha, TL Stiftung supports the next generation of scientists in emerging technologies. Bruscha, who left university before receiving a degree to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions, built several successful companies— under his leadership one went public in Germany, another on Nasdaq in the U.S.—before retiring. Inspired by his journey, he created TL Stiftung to empower young innovators who are shaping the future.
A Shared Vision
In 2006, Bernhard married Dr. Heidi Nguyen, a U.S. citizen born in Vietnam. Instead of asking for wedding gifts, the couple invited their guests to donate to an orphanage and retirement home in Heidi’s hometown of Nha Trang.
“We have everything we need for our life together – and this way we can help others find happiness too.”
Friends and family from around the world joined their cause, providing both financial and hands-on support. This spirit of giving laid the foundation for the TL International Foundation, which operates on a voluntary, non-profit basis, ensuring that 100% of all donations go directly to projects.
Independent of religion and ideology, the foundation remains committed solely to humanitarian aid.
